The Burlington Fire Department operates 5 stations with a compliment of 9 trucks. There are 4 engines, 2 aerial trucks, 2 squads, and 1 Battalion Chief covering the City of Burlington 24 hours each day. The equipment is staffed with 3 shifts working on a 24/48 shift schedule. One shift works for 24 hours and then is relieved for the following 48 hours by the other 2 shifts.
The Burlington Fire Department serves citizens in a variety of ways including emergency services.
Emergency services include: response to fire related calls, medical emergencies, hazardous materials incidents, and technical rescue emergencies.
Non-Emergency services include: Child Passenger Safety Education (Car Seat installations), commercial fire inspections, home safety inspections (only when requested), smoke alarm assistance and distribution, safety education for all ages and situations, among numerous other forms of assistance.
